Tuesday evening, former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar and former Congressman Lee Hamilton took part in a discussion at USI on the subject of civility in politics. USI President Linda Bennett moderated the discussion.

USI wins recycling contest over UE, Ivy Tech

The University of Southern Indiana is declared the winner of a friendly competition.

USI collected more aluminum cans than students at UE and Ivy Tech.

Students from all three Evansville campuses collected more than 200,000 pounds of cans for this year’s RecycleMania.

USI students collected the most aluminum on a per-capita basis.

USI celebrates 50th with photo timeline

50 years of history is on display at the University of Southern Indiana. 

USI has placed a timeline exhibit along a wall inside the Wright Administration Building. It tells the story of the university’s 50-year history in words and photographs. 

University President Linda Bennett says her favorite photo in the timeline is one of USI’s first President David Rice walking on a wooden plank surrounded by mud, as construction crews were building the university in its current West Side location in 1968.

MLK remembered in Evansville

The University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana have celebrated the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

USI hosted a luncheon called “The Dream Still Matters.”

The keynote speaker was author, historian, and educator James Anderson, who saw King speak in his Alabama hometown just two weeks before the civil rights leader was killed in 1968.
