USI Drops Indoor Mask Requirement

Rochon: Masks are still welcome

USI is dropping its indoor mask mandate. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

University President Ron Rochon says indoor face coverings remain welcome but are no longer required on the campus.

In a message on the USI website, Rochon said COVID-19 trends are moving in the right direction both nationally and on the campus.

He noted the state has moved Vanderburgh and Posey counties to the “yellow” category for medium risk. Warrick and Gibson counties are in the higher “orange” category.

No Indiana counties are in the highest risk “red” category.

Rochon said USI will maintain distancing protocols in classrooms and continue to monitor the status of community virus levels.

He said it’s been a long two years and none of us know if another variant is around the corner.

Therefore, Rochon said the face covering policy is still subject to change.
