WNIN hosted four debates in advance of the November 4th elections. The debates were conducted September 24th, and included candidates for Vanderburgh County Sheriff, County Commission, County Council, and County Auditor.

Vanderburgh chosen for pre-k program

The state has chosen Vanderburgh County as one of five Indiana counties to take part in a pre-kindergarten pilot program. 

Governor Mike Pence says Vanderburgh, Marion, Allen, Jackson, and Lake counties have been chosen to help prepare low-income four-year-olds for success in school.

The General Assembly established the pilot program earlier this year, and the Family Social Services Administration selected 18 counties as finalists.

Old Courthouse renovation to continue

Vanderburgh County Commissioners have approved plans to continue an interior renovation of the Old Courthouse. 

The county renovated the first floor of the historic downtown courthouse last year. Commission President Joe Kiefer tells the Evansville Courier and Press this year, the fix-up will move to the second floor.
