Election Day Approaches, County Races to be Decided

File

Early voting ends Friday at EVPL Branches

Election Day is just a few days away. WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look at some of the Vanderburgh County races:

Local voters are choosing a new prosecutor after Republican Diana Moers defeated incumbent Nick Hermann in the May Primary.

Vanderburgh County GOP spokeswoman Ashley Davis told WNIN TV’s Newsmakers program that Moers has been listening:

"And meet with different groups and constituents and interest groups and just saying, you know, what do you all want to see from the Prosecutor's Office, how have they been running things previously, and how would you like to see them over the next four years."

Local Democratic Chair Cheryl Schultz touted Jon Schaefer’s experience as a public defender:

"I think the experience that he brings and from living in the community, knowing the judges, knowing how the court system works, and the things he wants to bring into that office. The diversion programs that he wants to implement, doing testing within the office instead of outsourcing. I think those are good ideas."

Other Vanderburgh County races include sheriff, commissioner, and county council.

Early voting at public libraries ends Friday. Election Day is Tuesday.
