Indiana State Police are warning of a Facebook-related scam.
The scam is not a new one, but has been making the rounds again. Indiana State Police in Ft Wayne received a complaint that a “Child Safety Kit” was being offered on Facebook, with a link.
If you click on the link, you’re asked for personal information such as name, address and phone number information, which is then followed up by a phone call where the scammer tries to set up an in-home visit.
The woman who filed the complaint in Ft. Wayne says she got two calls from very persistent callers who wanted to come to her home and to have her download an app to her cell phone. They also claimed to be working directly with Indiana State Police.
If you see the link for the “Child Safety Kit” on Facebook, you’re asked to contact Indiana State Police.
