Kiahnna Wilkerson, daughter of Dawnita Wilkerson, speaks at a news conference Wednesday in Evansville.

Update, 10am Friday: Evansville police have issued a correction on the model year of the Chevy Surburban being sought in the case.  In an email Friday, they corrected the model year of the vehicle to 2004, not 2016 as noted during their news conference.

Earlier: Forty four year old Dawnita Wilkerson of Evansille was last seen getting into a 2016 Silver Chevy Surburban  with a sunroof and dark tinted windows at a motel on Evansville’s east side the evening of June 21, 2020.

Evansville police now believe the Surburban drove west from Evansville into southern Illinois. EPD detective Jeff Hands says they know who owns the Chevy Surburban, but they need help finding it.

“The Evansville Police Department and FBI are seeking assistance in locating the 2016 Chevy Surburban,  with particular interest in the Evansville, Indiana area and the Carbondale, Illinois and Marion, Illinois areas.”

If you have any information on the disappearance of Dawnita Wilkerson or the silver Chevy Surburban, you’re asked to contact Evansville police at 812-436-7979 or the tip line 812-435-6194.
