With the fourth local business temporarily shut down for violating coronavirus prevention guidelines, just how big is the overall issue?
Vanderburgh County Health Department administrator Joe Gries has been dealing with businesses that violate guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and individuals with questions since the beginning of the pandemic.
When I asked Gries how many local businesses have had compliance issues, I was shocked at the number. You may be too.
Burger: “I’m just trying to get an idea. Are you talking about dozens of businesses, hundreds…”
Gries: “Oh it’s in the hundreds.”
Burger: “Hundreds of businesses in Vanderburgh County. That sounds like a lot, more than I would expect.”
Gries: “Oh, yeah.”
Gries says he has dealt with complaints on just about every type of business or organization during the pandemic.
