It is the most aggresive move yet by health department officials to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
KC’s Time Out Lounge on South Green River Road was ordered to close for a week by the health department Wednesday after repeated instances of the business not enforcing distancing and masking requirements outlined by the state.
In making the move, health department officials noted that they have counseled and warned the owners of the Time Out several times for holding concerts and events that do not comply with distancing guidelines.
According to the closure order provided by the health department, the last straw apparently was a concert last Saturday at the lounge where Indiana Excise Police observed numerous violations of the governor's masking and distancing orders. Joe Gries is the health department administrator.
“Yeah, it’s just trying to make sure that going forward, these safety protocols and guidelines are followed.”
Gries says the lounge must present a mitigation plan to the health department for approval before it can reopen. It joins three other businesses in recent weeks that were also closed for ignoring COVID- related guidelines.
