Coroner: Double Homicide Victims Died of Stab Wounds

The Vanderburgh County Coroner says the victims of a double homicide were stabbed to death.

In an email, Coroner Steve Lockyear said autopsies determined that both Santanna Douglas and Donte Meriwether died of multiple stabs wounds.

Evansville Police found their bodies inside a home at 1900 Plantation Court Monday night.

Police said the previously married couple had been deceased for several days.

The EPD arrested a suspect, 46-year-old Ernest Douglas.

Police said he was married to Santanna Douglas at the time of her death but had been barred from the home on Plantation Court, following a reported fight between him and Meriwether in June.

In July, police responded to a trespassing call alleging Ernest Douglas was at the home.

He’s being held without bond in the Vanderburgh County jail.
