EPD: Estranged Husband Charged in Double Homicide

Police say the deaths of a former husband and wife were apparently the result of domestic violence.

The bodies of Santanna Douglas and Donte Meriwether were found in a home at 1900 Plantation Court Monday night.

They were both 43 years old.

Evansville Police said the previously married couple had been deceased for several days.

Police arrested a suspect, 46-year-old Ernest Douglas.

The EPD said he was married to Santanna Douglas at the time of her death but had been barred from the Plantation Court home in June, following a reported fight between him and Meriwether.

In July, police responded to a trespassing call alleging Ernest Douglas was at the home.

EPD spokesman Jason Cullum says there are NO additional suspects in the double homicide.
