As Utility Shutoffs and Evictions Loom, Information Portal Launched

reopenevavnsville.com

With Indiana’s moratorium on utility shutoffs and evictions set to expire next week, Evansville officials are offering new information for rent and utility assistance.

Earlier this week, we reported that as the economic crisis prompted by the pandemic continues, as many as 2,300 households are facing water and sewer shutoff in Evansville, and around 2,800 households are in danger of being evicted.

Wednesday, Evansville officials announced the launch of a rental and utility assistance portal on the Reopen Evansville website.

The portal offers information on rent and utility financial assistance, payment programs and legal help for people who have been impacted by COVID-19.  In addition to information about avoiding water and sewer shutoff, there is a link to Vectren’s utility payment program and other agencies offering assistance.
