This year’s hydroplane races in Owensboro have been canceled.
Officials say the Owensboro HydroFair is postponed to 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a release, officials said the decision was made with guidance from the local health department and state officials.
The event was originally scheduled for August 15th and 16th and then reset for September.
But Owensboro’s Director of Public Events, Tim Ross, said a safe and thrilling event on the city’s riverfront was “just not possible this year.”
The event was expected to bring in race teams and spectators from all over North America.
