FOP Annnounces Candidate Endorsements

The Fraternal Order of Police has announced its endorsements for next month’s Evansville City Election.

In a release, F.O.P. Evansville Lodge #73 says its Political Action Committee has endorsed Ben Trockman for the 1st Ward city council seat, Missy Mosby in the 2nd Ward, Stephen Melcher in the 3rd Ward, Jennifer Yaser in the 5th Ward, and Jonathan Weaver and David Christmas for At Large seats.

The PAC did not endorse a mayoral candidate or candidates in the 4th and 6th wards.

The FOP recently passed a no-confidence vote against Mayor Winnecke’s police chief, Billy Bolin.

The local FOP says the endorsements were made after “much consideration.”

It says the PAC sent questionnaires to all candidates, held a candidates night at the lodge, and considered input from members before making the endorsements.

The FOP says it believes the endorsed candidates will support public safety and be an asset for the citizens of Evansville.
