Man in Custody, Woman in Hospital After Shooting on Diamond Avenue

File

An Evansville man has been arrested, accused of shooting a woman along a busy city street.

An Evansville police sergeant discovered the wounded woman along Diamond Avenue, between St. Joe and Kraztville, early Labor Day morning.

Authorities said she had been shot multiple times.

In a release, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said the sergeant rendered first aid, and the victim was taken to a local hospital.

The sheriff’s office said investigators determined 31-year-old Christopher Brittan was the suspect in the shooting.

Officers interviewed Brittan and arrested him on a charge of Attempted Murder.

The sheriff’s office did not release the victim’s name.

It was the second attempted murder arrest in three days in Evansville.

The EPD arrested 33-year-old Nicholas McPherson after a 21-year-old man was shot in the head outside Sportsman's Grille & Billiards on West Franklin Street early Friday morning.
