Coroner: Drowning was Accidental

INDNR

Indiana Conservation Officers have released a cause of death in an incident at a Princeton swimming pool this week, but are reluctant to release any other information in their ongoing investigation.

The cause of death of the girl whose body was pulled from the pool at the Princeton Aquatic Center Tuesday evening was accidental drowning.

Gibson County Coroner Barrett Doyle made the ruling. However, that's all he  will say about the incident. When I asked him if the victim’s name and age are being released, he referred me to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, which is investigating the incident.

Matthew Clark, with DNR Law Enforcement, says it is DNR policy not to release the names of juvenile victims. He characterized the drowning incident as “complex” and said the case is still active. He declined to release any further information.

We will update this story as more information is available.
