A commission will assess the Evansville Police Department next week.
The EPD is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation.
It’s administered by the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. It requires police agencies to meet standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
In a release EPD Sgt, Nick Winsett said agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public session Wednesday, July 7th, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The session will be conducted at the CK Newsome Center at Walnut and Heidelbach.
Employees and the public can also comment by phone the next morning at 812-436-4947.
Winsett said comments will be limited to ten minutes and must address the Department’s ability to comply with the commission’s standards.
