EPD

Authorities are looking for a man who dropped-off a woman at an Evansville hospital. The woman died a short time later.

It happened at about 5:00 Tuesday morning at St. Vincent Hospital.

In a release, Evansville Police say the man left the woman unconscious and in cardiac arrest.

EPD officer Anna Gray said emergency room doctors administered CPR for about five minutes before declaring the woman deceased.

Hospital staff said the man told them he saw the woman walking and she appeared to need help, so he took her to the hospital.

He said he didn’t know the victim. The man was gone when officers arrived at the hospital.

Police released surveillance photos of the man who was driving an older, dark Toyota Corolla with paint damage on the trunk. You can see the photos at news.wnin.org.

The EPD said the man was not a suspect but a “person of interest.”

The woman’s identity and manner of death were not released as of midday Tuesday.

UPDATE: Police have identified the person of interest but have not released his identity.
