Authorities have identified the man who was found dead in a ditch on Evansville’s North Side.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office identifies the man found along Highway 41, near Lynch Road, as 74-year-old James Eugene Rich of Owensboro.
Police were dispatched to the scene just before 7:00 Thursday morning.
In a release, EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett said firefighters removed Rich’s body from a water-filled ditch.
Coroner Steve Lockyear said an autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
The investigation at the scene forced police to limit traffic to one lane on northbound 41. It backed-up traffic during the morning commute.
