Update: Body Pulled From River Identified

Emergency personnel pulled a body out of the Ohio River in Warrick County Monday. 

Update, 3pm Tuesday: 

Warrick County officials have released the name of the victim whose body was pulled from the Ohio River at Newburgh Dam Monday afternoon.

In a release, Warrick County Sheriff Michael Wilder says the body has been identified as 16 year old Jake Stover of Prospect, Kentucky. Stover went missing while kayaking on the Ohio River on January 10th at a park near Louisville. Autopsy results are pending, but foul play is not suspected.

Earlier: According to a release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources,  just after one o’clock Monday, a tugboat operator spotted a body in the water near Newburgh Dam.

Indiana Conservation Officers were called and recovered the body. The gender of the victim was not given. They are working on identifying the victim through fingerprints and x-rays. An autopsy is set for Wednesday.  Other responding agencies included Newburgh Police and Warrick County emergency responders.

There is no evidence of foul play. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Indiana Conservation Officer central dispatch at (812) 837-9536.
