Fire Chases Adults and Kids from Evansville Home

File

Four children and three adults are safe after a late night house fire in Evansville.

Firefighters were called to 2364 E. Tennessee Street, near Boeke, at about 2:15 Friday morning.

In a release, Division Chief Mike Larson said when crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the house.

Larson said firefighters extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes.

He said the homeowner tried to extinguish the fire before getting out but was unsuccessful.

Larson said all the occupants exited the home without injury.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist three adults and four children.

Larson said investigators determined it was an electrical fire in the attic. It was ruled accidental.

Larson said the kids in the home were first to notice the fire and alerted their parents that something was burning in a back room.

Larson said fire damage was contained to the attic and ceiling of the back room.

He said the occupants will be displaced until the electrical system has been repaired and service is restored to the home.
