Phishing Scam Making Rounds at Local Businesses

Courtesy: City of Evansville

Local officials are warning of an email phishing scam that appears to come from a city department.

The email looks like it’s a notice from the City of Evansville Business Permit and Licensing Division.

In a release, Evansville officials warn that local businesses are receiving the emails that appear to come from the city’s eGov communications platform.

Security experts have identified the emails as phishing attempts to collect sensitive information.

They say if you receive a suspect phishing email, do not open any associated links, notify your IT staff and report it to Evansville police
