Fire Damages East Side Duplex

File

Evansville firefighters battled a duplex fire on the city’s East Side.

Crews were dispatched to the two-story brick structure at 1008 Corregidor Circle just before 10:30 Monday morning.

In a release, Division Chief Mike Larson said the first units arrived in two minutes and saw smoke coming from several parts of the duplex.

Larson said it was difficult to find the source of the smoke but firefighters eventually found fire in the basement.

Crews extinguished the blaze in about a half-hour.

Larson said fire damage was minor but there was smoke damage throughout both units.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was contacted to help two adults and two children who live in one of the units.
