Fire Chases Resident from Evansville Home

File

An early morning fire severely damaged a home in Evansville’s Jacobsville neighborhood.

Firefighters were dispatched to 206 W Oregon St. just before 2:00 Wednesday morning.

In a release, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said the first crews to arrive found a large amount of fire coming from the front of the home and from one side -- exposing a neighboring home to the flames.

Larson said the occupant got out of the burning house and notified neighbors of the fire.

The home sustained heavy fire damage to the first floor and significant damage to the attic space.

Larson said quick actions of firefighters protected the neighboring home, which he said sustained mild to moderate damage to its siding and soffit.

Larson said the cause of the fire is undetermined due to extensive damage.

Firefighters were called back to the home just before 11:00 Wednesday morning when flames reignited in a wall.
