Man Convicted of Child Molesting

A Vanderburgh County jury has convicted a man of five counts of child molesting.

The Prosecutor’s Office says the jury convicted 60-year-old Kevin Weiss, after a two-day trial.

In a release, the office said Weiss’ victim attended a Truth Talk presentation at an area school about sexual abuse in November 2019.

After the presentation, the victim passed a note to the presenter, accusing Weiss of molestation.

The prosecutor’s office said the presenter followed proper protocol and notified school staff who then notified the Department of Child Services.

Prosecutor Nick Hermann said the victim “displayed tremendous courage by speaking up.”

Following Thursday’s verdict, Weiss was also found guilty of being a repeat offender for having a conviction of Child Molestation in Posey County in 1990.

His sentencing was scheduled for October 21st.
