New regional site opens Monday, neighborhood testing starts Thursday in Evansville.
The state’s new OptumServe regional testing site opens at the CK Newsome Center in downtown Evansville today. The hours are 8am-8pm Monday through Friday. Anyone can get tested, but registration is required. The tests are free, but if you have health insurance, you will be asked to provide that information during the scheduling process.
In addition to the new site, Indiana State Department of Health testing is available at the CVS on North St. Joe Avenue and at Deaconess Clinic Lynch.
Neighborhood testing will begin this Thursday in Evansville. The testing will be from 3-7pm central time. The exact location for the testing has not been confirmed, but the tentative site is the former Health South facility on Covert Avenue. Vanderburgh County Health Department administrator Joe Gries says they expect to confirm the site Monday morning. Funding for the neighborhood level testing came from an appropriation by the Vanderburgh County Council last week.
