Local runners are invited to take part in an event honoring Ahmaud Arbery.
On her Facebook page, Katie Johnson Adenrele describes herself as an athlete with four black brothers, a black husband, and black students.
She’s asking runners to join her Saturday morning for “We Run with Ahmaud 812.”
Ahmaud Arbery is the 25-year-old African-American man who authorities say was shot to death by a white man and his son in Georgia.
Police didn’t arrest the suspects until video of the shooting was made public.
The “We Run with Ahmaud” event begins at 8:00 Saturday morning at Zion Church on S. Governor St. in Evansville.
Adenrele urges runners should to wear masks and gloves and observe social distancing.
