Disinfectant to be Sprayed Downtown

File

Downtown Evansville is now being disinfected twice a week.

In a release, the Economic Improvement District announced the beginning of a district-wide disinfection regimen to combat the spread of COVID-19.

EID President Josh Armstrong says crews will follow Centers for Disease Control protocol, spraying a mixture of bleach and water onto surfaces like benches, trash cans, and railings along the greenway.

Armstrong said the spraying will be conducted each Monday and Friday until further notice.

He said the group’s relationship with Keep Evansville Beautiful allowed the district to pivot and begin the practice “quickly.”

Armstrong said officials feel “disinfection is a priority over litter” through the remainder of the crisis.

KEB will also sanitize hand-washing stations that have been installed Downtown.
