Fire Victim Identified

File

A man is dead after a mobile home fire in Vanderburgh County.

The coroner’s office has identified the victim as 53-year-old Harvey Mussard.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

In a release, the sheriff’s office says volunteer firefighters were dispatched to Mussard’s home the 6100 Block of Moline Drive, off N. St Joe Avenue, just after 7:00 Wednesday night.

The sheriff’s office said two deputies retrieved a door ram and forced entry into the burning home but were stopped by thick smoke.

Properly equipped firefighters arrived shortly thereafter, entered the burning trailer, removed Mussard, and began life-saving measures with AMR Paramedics.

But the first responders couldn’t revive him.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
