Crews Disinfecting METS Buses Four Times a Day

File

METS buses are being cleaned more frequently to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and the flu.

The Metropolitan Evansville Transit System says it’s adding extra disinfecting cycles to all buses and facilities during its operating hours.

The disinfecting will be added at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., in addition to daily disinfecting procedures at the end of operating hours.

In a release, METS said the temporary cycles are in place to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including COVID-19 and influenza.

METS asks riders to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when using bus routes or METS Mobility.

They include frequent hand-washing, avoiding close contact, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home if you’re sick.
