Authorities have captured an Evansville man who escaped police custody last week.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies assigned to the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force found Anthony Patrick Jones hiding under a camper in the 1100 block of S. Harlan Ave.

In a press release, the Sheriff’s Office said a canine named Kane pulled Jones from under the camper and deputies took him into custody without further incident.

The 27-year-old Jones had fled from deputies during his November 8th arrest on felony battery charges.

The sheriff’s office said Jones was taken to a hospital for evaluation for injuries suffered during the initial incident, as well as the dog bite from Monday’s arrest.

He faces charges including Felony Battery and Resisting Law Enforcement.

Jones will be held without bond pending a court appearance.
