Police Investigate Fatal Shooting At West Side Bar

An autopsy was scheduled Monday after a young Evansville man was shot to death at a West Side bar.

Evansville Police say in a tweet that an off-duty officer was working at Sportsman’s at 2315 W. Franklin St. early Sunday morning, when he was told shots had been fired.

The officer found a wounded man in the alley behind the popular bar.

The man was taken to Deaconess Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 23-year-old Laren Hall.

Another man told police at the scene he had fired his gun during a fight.

The EPD says no charges have been filed.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting is urged to contact Evansville Police.

The incident happened less than two hours after the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival wrapped up on W. Franklin St.
