Evansville Complete Count Committee to encourage the public to learn more about the Census 2020

Wikipedia

In 2010 the Evansville census response rate dropped from 81% to 77%. Executive Director or the Evansville Metropolitan Department, Kelley Coures, says this drop mostly happened in the Evansville Promise zone where poverty rate is 41%.

“And the complete count committee is made up of community leaders that provide services and work with populations that are high minority, high low income because we now that those populations tend to be undercounted.”

He says the importance of an accurate count of the city’s population makes an impact on how much money the city receives from federal funding. For example, the City of Evansville receives 3 million dollars a year from federal funding for things like affordable housing and funding second shift daycare for low income households.

The Census will be available online, by phone and via traditional paper form in the mail. It will also be available in 12 languages.
