Murder Charge Filed In Henderson Shooting

A young Henderson man now faces a murder charge following a deadly shooting last weekend.

18-year-old Japaris Baker was originally arrested on an assault charge after the shooting that killed 18-year-old Jai’Waun Wadlington of Evansville.

Two others were wounded in the shooting outside the Thomason Banquet Hall in Henderson early Saturday.

The Henderson Police Department says in a news release that investigators spoke with several witnesses and determined Baker fired the shot that killed Wadlington.

Witnesses told police that Baker started shooting after an argument between people who live in Henderson and those from Evansville.

The other two who were wounded were also 18-years-old.

They were hit in the leg and were expected to survive.
