Police: Argument Leads To Fatal Shooting Near Elberfeld

One man is dead and another is in custody after a fatal shooting in Warrick County.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting at 10,388 Nobles Chapel Road – near Elberfeld – at about 11:00 Sunday night.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said the 911 caller identified himself as the shooter and told dispatchers he would remain at the scene until deputies arrived.

Once on scene, deputies found 39-year-old Joshua Nolan of Winslow with a single gunshot wound to the head.  Nolan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies arrested the suspect, 35-year-old David Dunn of Petersburg.

Dunn was taken to the Warrick County Jail on a preliminary charge of Voluntary Manslaughter.

The sheriff’s office says the incident started as a verbal argument that escalated into a shooting.

An autopsy was scheduled for this (Mon) afternoon.
