Motorcyclist Killed In Vanderburgh County Crash

A young Vanderburgh County man is dead after an SUV collided with a motorcycle.

The county coroner’s office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Michael Wink.

He died Wednesday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV at Fischer Road and Deer Lake Drive.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office says the SUV apparently turned into the path of the motorcycle and the collision threw Wink “a considerable distance”

Despite attempted life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Wink was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The coroner’s office scheduled an autopsy for Thursday evening.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash, but investigators are awaiting toxicology results.

The crash and investigation forced deputies to close Fischer Road between Orchard and Schenk roads for nearly three hours Wednesday afternoon.
