Small Plane In Fatal Crash May Have Been Stolen

A small plane that crashed in Henderson may have been stolen.

Authorities have identified the two men killed in the crash as 47-year-old Barry Hill and 48-year-old George Tucker, both of Sanford, North Carolina.

In a news release, Kentucky State Police say neither man was a certified pilot, and the private Bellanca 17-30A they were flying is believed to have been either stolen or was being used without the authority of the registered owner.

The private aircraft was believed to have been taken from Rome, NC.

It crashed late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning about 50 feet off the runway at Henderson City-County Airport.

The wreckage wasn’t discovered until after daybreak Wednesday.
