Elpers Reports Online Threats

An Evansville City Councilman says he was threatened on social media.

Republican Justin Elpers contacted police on Sunday.

Elpers reported that he received several threats from an old acquaintance on his social media account, expressing a desire to harm the councilman for his political views and beliefs.

The police report said Elpers feared the suspect might act on the threats.

Police say they advised Elpers to seek a protective order.

He was provided a case number and a report was submitted to the EPD Misdemeanor Investigations Unit for a follow-up.

No arrests have been made.

The report did not provide details of the alleged threats.

Elpers has been an outspoken opponent of the Drag Queen Story Hour held at North Park Library on Saturday.

He attended the event and stood with opponents outside the library.
