An Evansville woman is dead and another is in custody after a vehicle hit a wheelchair.
It happened at about 7:30 Tuesday evening on First Ave. near Columbia St.
In an email, the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office said 73-year-old Diana Tucker died at a hospital after being struck in the wheelchair.
An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday evening.
The EPD says the driver of the car, 29-year-old Brooke Cameron, left the scene of the crash and then returned.
Officers arrested Cameron on a charge of hit and run resulting in death.
Toxicology tests were conducted as required by law. The results were not immediately available.
