The Islamic Society of Evansville will be hosting a free health fair in response to a need expressed by the community.
According to the United Way, a study of financial hardship conducted in 2018, 32% of Warrick County residents are asset limited, income constrained and employed – categorizing them as the working poor. In 2017, 37% of Newburg residents fell into this same category.
The vision of God is Good Foundation, an independent ecumenical non-profit base in Newburgh, conducted a canvass of Newburgh residents and learned that Health Care was one of the concerns residents had.
In response to this, the God is Good Foundation in partnership with the Islamic Society of Evansville and MASIHA, organized the first annual Physician Connect Health Fair.
The free event will focus on diabetes, blood sugar, blood pressure, and allergies screening. In addition to vision and cholesterol care, the physicians at the health fair will provide information for colon cancer, COPD and Cancer screenings.
The event features games for kids and healthy snacks. It will take place at the Islamic Society of Evansville located at 4200 Grim Road in Newburgh – from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 27th.
