Just days after addressing gang and drug activity in the Evansville area, police have announced the arrest of a local teen for attempted murder.
A news release from the EPD states the department’s Gang Unit and members of the US Marshal’s Task Force arrested a 15 year old boy for Attempted Murder Thursday night.
Police said the juvenile was wanted on a warrant stemming from an incident on December 9th, when the juvenile allegedly fired shots at a woman in the 700 block of Judson St.
Police believe the woman was intentionally targeted because her son had refused to fight the suspect during an earlier confrontation.
The suspect was arrested in the Heathmoore apartment complex on S. Green River Road.
After his arrest, a search warrant was issued and police said they found 2 handguns hidden inside a vacuum cleaner.
The juvenile was arrested and placed at the Youth Care Center.
Police also found a second person in the apartment, 19-year-old Sauvaun Cunningham.
He was not arrested, but police said Cunningham was reportedly shot while walking in the 1500 block of Joyce Ave. on New Year’s Eve.
No arrests have been made in that case.
