Local ten-year-old girl opens library encouraged by her mother

Zoe Smith is ten years old and recently opened her own library full of diverse books for all ages.

Holly Smith, Zoe's mother, had difficulty reading as a child which motivated her to spark the interest of reading in Zoe.

She says technology can sometimes suppress a child’s interest in reading but Zoe and Holly take advantage of it and encourage others through social media to join their library.

Zoe’s Little Free Library is part of an International nonprofit organization that inspires reading through the exchange of books. Take a book. Leave a book.

“I like to read and I wanted to encourage other people to like to read and make it more fun for people.” Zoe Smith.

Each year, nearly ten million books are shared in Little Free Libraries around the world and Zoe is hopeful that maybe one day she will add her own stories to the library.
