A measure to eliminate crypto currency machines in Indiana is a step closer to law. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, the bill’s author is Wendy McNamara of Evansville:
McNamara's bill to prohibit crypto kiosks in the state has passed the legislature and is headed to the governor’s desk.
She says scammers use the kiosks -- frequently found in grocery stores and gas stations -- to trick victims into transferring money.
McNamara says the scammers don’t just take advantage of loopholes -- they hunt seniors and exploit vulnerable residents.
She says they “deliberately confuse, pressure, and terrify people into feeding their life savings” into crypto machines designed with zero safeguards.
The FBI says more than 333-million dollars in crypto scams were reported in 2025.
Crypto is a digital currency that doesn’t require a central bank or financial institution to verify transactions.
It’s recorded with “block chain technology” that tracks trades and the purchase of digital assets.
