Toddler Shoots Self; Man Charged with Neglect

The incident in Evansville sent a 3-year-old boy to Deaconess Hospital

An Evansville man faces charges after a toddler accidentally shot himself. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The EPD says the three-year-old boy found a pistol lying unattended on a living room couch in the 1400 block of Dresden Sunday morning and fired the gun.

Investigators say 26-year-old Antonio Harrell and the boy’s mother rushed the child to Deaconess Hospital after the incident.

There was no word on the boy’s condition.

Police say Harrell dropped the child off with his mother at the hospital and then returned to the apartment on Dresden.

Investigators say he removed the gun and a spent shell casing before talking to police.

Harrell faces two preliminary counts of child neglect, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of unlawful carrying of a handgun.
