The Evansville Police Department has named a new public information officer. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Sergeant Anthony Aussieker will fill the role of PIO as Sergeant Trudy Day moves to supervising third-shift patrol.
The EPD thanks Day for her service as PIO.
The agency says Aussieker has gained extensive experience in various roles over 12 years, including motor patrol and as a detective in the Adult Investigations Unit.
He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2023.
Since then, Aussieker has served as the Grants Supervisor and now takes on the responsibility of leading the Public Information Office, which also includes Special Projects Coordinator Officer Taylor Merriss.
Outside of his work at EPD, Sgt. Aussieker is engaged in several non-profits, including Cops Connecting with Kids, 9-1-1 Gives Hope and the YWCA.
