An Evansville man faces felony charges for driving a car off the roof of Bally’s parking garage. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
A police affidavit identifies the man as Jeremiah Oldham. He faces charges of criminal recklessness and criminal mischief.
Police say Oldham drove an SUV through a barrier and off the top floor of the garage, became airborne, crashed through another roof, and landed upside down on escalators inside Bally’s Conference Center Monday morning.
Oldham was taken to a hospital and nobody was injured inside Bally’s.
The affidavit states the crash caused “significant structural and property damage” estimated at more than $50,000.
Court records indicate Oldham was convicted of possessing child pornography in Kentucky in 2011.
He was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison.
Following Monday’s incident, Bally’s said there were no signage or structural issues with the garage.
The casino company said the safety of its guests and staff remains the “top priority."
