Callers reported a drive-by shooting; EPD says the victim and suspect knew each other

A teen is in the hospital after a shooting on Evansville’s West Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of Hartmetz Avenue at about 8:40 Monday night for a report of shots fire.

The EPD says officers found a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound.

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital. There’s no word on the teen’s condition.

EPD Sgt. Trudy Day says detectives are gathering information, reviewing surveillance video from the area, and interviewing witnesses.

Day says it appears the suspect and the victim are familiar with each other and the shooting was not a random act.

If you have any more information about the crime you’re asked to contact Evansville Police.
