Former EVSC board member Amy Word will not serve any time in prison. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Vanderburgh Circuit Court Judge David Kiely reduced Word's felony conviction to a misdemeanor and sentenced her to serve nine months on probation.
The 48-year-old Word was convicted in June of allowing illegal drug activity at the popular West Side establishment she owned, Lamasco Bar and Grill.
Word has since sold the bar and has been removed from thre school board.
Word’s defense attorney, Bob Canada, had asked the court to reduce the conviction to a misdemeanor based on Word's lack of any prior felony conviction.
On her Facebook page, Word thanked family, friends and supporters, saying she sits in gratitude, thankful even for the journey and the lessons learned.
