Two men have been arrested following a shooting in Newburgh, where the suspects allegedly tried to rob a man of his casino winnings. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Warrick County Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Austin Morgan of Newburgh and 24-year-old Khalid Moore of Evansville face preliminary charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and robbery resulting in bodily injury.
Moore -- the alleged shooter – also faces a charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
Deputies arrested Moore and Morgan after the shooting in the 2800 block of JoEllen Lane Monday evening
Authorities say the victim, Mario Fields Jr., and his girlfriend had just returned from the French Lick Casino, where Fields won $5,700.
The sheriff’s office says Morgan knew about Fields’ winnings and conspired with Moore to rob him.
Fields was treated at a hospital.
The sheriff’s office says deputies recovered a gun from Moore’s home.
