An Evansville man is dead and two men are in custody charged with his murder. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Evansville Police responded to an assault in the 100 block of East Tennessee Street Saturday night and found an unconscious male with visible injuries.
EPD Sgt. Trudy Day says the victim, identified as 44-year-old Corey Fischer, was taken to a local hospital.
Day says detectives gathered video from several sources and the suspects were quickly identified.
Police arrested 32-year-old Cade Kirk and 35-year-old Charles Miles Sunday morning.
The EPD says detectives confirmed the suspects knew Fischer and it was not a random attack.
It was also believed the suspects used brass knuckles in the assault.
Fischer died from his injuries Monday and murder charges were filed against Kirk and Miles, who are both in the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center.
The Coroner’s office says an autopsy was performed and officials are waiting for results of toxicology tests before issuing a final report.
