Octavia Aquino, 4, died after being found unresponsive in the care of the her mother's teen boyfriend

The Vanderburgh County Coroner has released the cause of a four-year-old girl’s death. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The coroner’s office says Octavia Aquino died of complications of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

The girl died after being found unresponsive at an East Side apartment earlier this month.

Octavia’s mother, Destiny Rhoades, was charged with Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death, while Rhoades’ 16-year-old boyfriend, Christian Gonzalez, was charged with murder in adult court.

A roommate told police the child had marks on her neck and a human bite mark on her arm.

Police said Gonzalez admitted biting the child after the child bit him.

The coroner’s office says a final autopsy report is pending forensic and toxicology tests.
